25 Questions: Holiday Style…

Here’s a little holiday survey I stole from Shayla 😉

25 Questions: Holiday Style…

  • Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate.  I’ve never actually had egg nog 😮
  • Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa usually stuffed my stocking for me, so neither 😛
  • Colored lights on tree/house or white? Our fake Christmas tree has all white lights built in, but the house has a little bit of everything.  Our house honestly looks like Christmas threw up on it.  I’ll post a picture this weekend and you’ll all understand.
  • Do you hang mistletoe? No.  Too dangerous 😛
  • When do you hang your decorations up? Whenever my dad gets the tree up after Thanksgiving, so it varies from year to year.
  • What is your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? We don’t really have specific traditional holiday dishes, but I do look forward to all the Christmas cookies every year 🙂
  • Favorite holiday memory as a child? I love the family Christmas party every year, but it’s kinda hard to beat 2004.  I got my acceptance letter to SCU on Christmas Eve.  Pretty cool I think.
  • What is on your Christmas Wish List? I don’t really have a lot on my Christmas list.  I asked for some gift cards and some DVDs, like the Harry Potter box set.  It’s cheesy, but I’m actually more excited for the presents I got other people this year 🙂
  • Do you open a gift on Christmas Eve? I would bug my mom constantly to let me open one until she gave in when I was growing up.  But now we wait for Christmas morning for everything.
  • How do you decorate your Christmas tree? We have a ton of ornaments packed away, but now we decorate the tree in all our Steinbach ornaments.  It looks pretty cool I think.  And of course we have the Giants World Series ornament 🙂  I’ll have to go turn it on and take a picture once no one is napping in the living room.
  • Snow? Love it or dread it? I wouldn’t know.  Lol.  The first time I saw snow was in the Arizona desert.  Somewhere there’s a great picture of mini me all bundled up next to a snow covered cactus.  In theory though I think I would love to have a White Christmas, but then I start thinking how hard it would be for the family to drive in for Christmas dinner.  I’m too practical sometimes 😛
  • Real or fake tree? Growing up we always had real trees, because they used to sell them at the Luckys down the street.  Many years ago we finally gave in and got a fake tree at one of those after Christmas sales.  It looks great I think.
  • Do you remember your favorite gift? I love what I get every year 😉
  • What’s the most important thing about Christmas for you? Family.  Definitely my family.  I just love getting the whole family together to hang out.
  • What is your favorite holiday dessert? The Christmas cookies my mom’s friend makes.  She makes so many different kinds and packages them all up together and ALL OF THEM are DELICIOUS.
  • What is your favorite tradition? The family Christmas dinners are wonderful, but I really do love hanging out with my folks on Christmas Eve making hot drinks and cookies while we watch our chosen Christmas movie of the year.  We all have a soft spot for the remake of Miracle on 34th Street with Richard Attenborough.
  • What tops your tree? I just realized we don’t have a topper on the tree right now.  I should look into that…
  • Which do you prefer: giving or receiving? I really am super excited about the gifts I’m giving out this year, which of course I can’t mention here yet in case the surprises get spoiled 😉  I think we all shift from being more excited about receiving to giving as we get older.
  • What is your favorite Christmas Song? I have a ton, and I’ll probably do a post of those at some point before Christmas.  But I think some of my top favorites are “Little Drummer Boy/Peace On Earth” by Bing Crosby & David Bowie, “Merry Christmas Darling” by the Carpenters, “Ho Ho Hopefully” by the Maine, and “Home For Christmas” by *NSYNC.  To be honest at the holidays the *NSYNC Christmas Album is pretty much on repeat.
  • Candy Canes: yuck or yum? Yum.  They make me feel guilty though 😛
  • Favorite Christmas Movie? My mom plays National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation enough during the holiday season that I can pretty much recite the entire movie from memory.  But my personal favorites I think are Miracle on 34th Street and The Santa Clause.
  • What do you leave for Santa? Milk and the cookies of the year 🙂
  • Do you have a Christmas morning tradition? Plan on sleeping in but wake up early anyways.  Go downstairs in pajamas and open presents before breakfast during the Christmas parades.  Interesting factoid, I saw the back of my own head while watching Selena Gomez perform at the Disneyland Christmas Parade on TV last year.  Am I the only person who didn’t know those parades were pre-recorded?  But then after breakfast we clean up while my dad goes to church and start getting ready for the family party.
  • Do you prefer to shop online or at the mall? In theory I would shop at the mall, but the crowds drive me insane.  So I get some early shopping done at the mall and finish up on Amazon.  Although I got a little creative with some presents this year and did neither 😉
  • Christmas letter or Christmas card? Christmas cards, which I really do need to get my butt in gear on and finish up to mail out next week.  I just love lining all my Christmas cards up on my dresser each year 🙂
